How to Treat Head Lice
How to treat head lice (Q1): Any treatment for head lice?
Is there any effective treatment for head lice

Yes... please contact a physician and get a prescription shampoo. You will waste your time and money on over the counter medicine. Don’t believe old wives tales and don’t use kerosene.
You will need a good strong prescription shampoo and a special comb to pick out the nits. Wash everything in hot water and detergent, the bedding, pillows, their clothes, their combs and brushes can be soaked in boiling water and soap.
Teach your children not share combs, brushes, hats, headbands, etc. You can spray the couch to disinfect it (anywhere kids lay their heads). Be vigilant, you can do everything right, send them back to school and be reinfested. Above all don’t feel alone, its not a sign of being unclean, in fact I’ve heard lice like clean heads best!

At any drug store (Wallgreens etc.) or discount store (Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart) you can find a product called RID. It is a shampoo that you use. There is also a spray you can use to kill the lice in carpets and such. It’s important to treat your WHOLE HOUSE!! Bedding, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, EVERYTHING must be washed or placed in placed in plastic bags until live bugs die (30 days I think).
How to treat head lice (Q2): Are there any natural home remedies to get rid of head lice?
My neice's cousin had head lice (was ate up with it) and none of us knew, now my neice has it and we cant get rid of the rest of it. we have tried bombin the house, sprays, and over the counter head lice treatment from walmart, but what are some NATURAL HOME REMEDIES? I've heard of mayonaise (not miracle whip, vinegar, some oils, etc) Some one please help, we have already washed everything and sprayed and bombed the house.

Ma’am, this is not the time to go natural. If you go natural, you’ll be fighting this bugs off and on for who knows how long. Lice is very easy to spread and very hard to get rid of. Buy some Rid or Nix, poison those suckers and spray down your furniture with Rid or Nix spray. User a nit comb and a solution of vinegar and water to easily remove the eggs. Place large comforters and stuffed animals in tightly sealed plastic bags for a week to suffocate any bugs.

I have used the mayonnaise tip on my daughter before and it really worked. you have to completely cover her hair in it, then wrap it all with cling film (Saran wrap I think they call it in America). she will have to sleep with this in her hair. next morning, wash and condition her hair as normal, then use a fine toothed comb to brush out the lice. they will be dead as they will have suffocated.

Cetaphil, rubbed in the hair down to the scalp, then blow dried gets rid head lice. You also have to wash all bedding, combs, brushes, stuffed animals, anything that has come near her head, in hot soapy water. Cetaphil contains no pesticides. I don’t know the web site address - just google Cetaphil and head lice.
How to treat head lice (Q3): How long before the itching stops after lice treatment?
I used the shampoo, but my head is still itching a little. I'm living overseas and can't find a fine toothed comb anywhere. I did my best to get the eggs out and just figured I have to go over it again in a week or so. I can't find anymore bugs, so I'm wondering if it's just leftover itching, like a mosquito bite or something. Anybody know?

Best way to make sure the shampoo killed all the lice and eggs you really have to shampoo a few times and make sure you cover every piece of your hair with the shampoo, once the shampoo gets all the lice and eggs your head should not itch any longer, it should be as soon as you rinse the shampoo off, if you rinse and it’s still itching then you probably didn’t get all the lice and eggs, or maybe you need to try a different lice shampoo.
I know someone who had lice, they tried two different shampoos before they finally got relief, they were relieved as soon as they got out of the shower, it’s supposed to work right a way, if your head still itches it means some lice or eggs are still on your scalp. It’s best to have someone help you massage the shampoo thoroughly through your scalp so every hair strand is covered in shampoo.
Also, remember to wash your pillow sheets, bed sheets, clothes you wore in warm water so any lice or eggs will die.

If its a considerable itching, you stil have small bugs there. use hair straightner as an effort to kill the eggs and small bugs with its heat. i have a strong feeling, it should work.
